East River Park

East River Park, Montgomery Street to East 12th Street, New York, New York was originally built in 1939 and at 57-acres is the largest park south of 59th Street in Manhattan. The construction project was a nearly 80 million dollar overhaul of everything from the replacement of the deteriorating seawall, creation of a new esplanade with a railing, installation of new site amenities including benches, lighting and trash receptacles, transplanting of large specimen existing trees and new planting throughout.

The following project is from Michael’s tenure with the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation as Assistant Landscape Architect/Borough Supervisor. His on site project management responsibilities included coordination of all contractors, over sight for proper construction installation methods, tree preservation, monitoring all transplanting of specimen trees and inspection and tagging of all plant material to be used on the projects & supervision and implementation of design changes in the field.
